If you’re looking for a free program that will let you record sound, edit and export in a variety of formats, Power Sound Editor is just what you need. It has many more functions in it than the standard user will need and it’s a great tool if you want to add unique audio to a school or work presentation.

Once in the program the waveforms take up the majority of the screen, which is exactly what you need if you want to make precise cuts. Edit options include delete, cut, copy paste, mix and you can also chose from a range of effects that is impressive for freeware: among others, vibrato, invert, delay, echo, chorus, silence and fade. Once you’re happy with your track, save it as an audio file or rip to CV.
