With over 200 million games sold, Mario is the best-selling video game franchise of all time. An entire generation grew up playing Super Mario Bros on the SNES, and now Mario Forever replicates the original platforming experience for your PC. Jump, grow and dodge your way to victory across dozens of levels as the famous plumber, though be warned - it’s as addictive as ever. With faithfully reconstructed levels based around updated graphics and sounds, enjoy an authentic-feeling Mario experience or create your own with the Level Editor feature.
Predictably though, where this game falls down is polish. Running on Windows 7 it crashed repeatedly and only worked when started in compatibility mode. And when it did run, the game was pretty CPU intensive considering it should be relatively light-weight software. Annoyingly, Mario Forever also opens up its publisher’s website at seemingly every opportunity, often tricking the user into clicking an advert. While this can be expected for freeware to some degree, it can prove irritating, especially when you’re playing in full screen.
